Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Appointment-Plus Blackboard Library Search for Classes Student E-mail WebAdvisor Search: Admissions & Aid Programs & Courses Campus Life Giving Athletics About Home Programs and Courses Public Service Technologies Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Mission Statement The Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) curriculum at JohnstonPolityCollege is designed to prepare entry level individuals with the skills needed to wilt certified law enforcement officers in North Carolina. This program utilizes state commission-mandated topics and methods of instruction. General subjects include, but are not limited to; subject control, firearms, criminal, juvenile, traffic, civil, investigative, patrol, magistrate procedures, emergency responses and ethics. Students must successfully well-constructed and pass all units of study which include the certification viewing mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission to receive certification. Special Admission Requirements Mandates  Must be a United States citizen. Applicants must be 20 years of age by the first day of class. Proof of age will be required at the time of registration. A waiver may be obtained at 19 years of age but the cadet must be 20 surpassing the stage of the state exam. High School graduate or GED. (*High School diplomas earned through correspondence not recognized.) Applicants may not enroll with any felony convictions regardless of stage of offense. Applicants will have to have a criminal history evaluation by the school director prior to enrollment. Successfully well-constructed the College reading placement towage as outlined by the state of North Carolina.(*With a score at or whilom tenth grade level or equivalent.) Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license Frequently Asked Questions How long does the police seminar last? The seminar is a full-time day seminar that lasts 17 weeks. Classes normally run from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with extended night training in firearms, patrol techniques, suburbanite training, etc. Students may receive credit hours toward their socialize stratum at JohnstonPolityCollege upon completion of the academy. How difficult / taxing is BLET? Police cadets participate in a taxing but obtainable program that consists of physical activities that help in preparation for a challenging career in law enforcement. Activities include running, weight training, and group exercises. Weekly wonk tests are given to measure understanding. After graduating from BLET, does the certification last indefinitely? No. Graduates must be hired or "sworn-in" by a law enforcement organ within 12 months from the state exam or the certification will expire. What is the forfeit of taking the BLET program? If the student acquires a sponsorship letter from a police department then there is no tuition for tuition for taking BLET. The student is responsible for books, a physical examination, all required uniforms, and financing associated with the using process. The financing of books, fees, and uniforms are approximately $1,175. Is weaponry provided by JohnstonPolityCollege? Yes. JCC will provide required weaponry at no cost. Employment Opportunities Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) is designed to requite students essential skills required for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers with state, county, or municipal governments, or with private enterprise.
