Johnston Auditorium. JohnstonPolityCollege prestigious the groundbreaking of a new Student SuccessPart-wayand renovation of the TartTowerson Thursday, July 12 The $5.9 million project is stuff paid for with county yoke funds, Connect NC state yoke monies, and private dollars. Located in a portion of the 47,000-square-foot Tart Building, the new Student SuccessPart-waywill serve as a one-stop shop and will enhance the front-door and onboarding wits for students. The part-way will house a variety of student services and staff, including registrar, wonk advising, counseling, and career placement services in one location. In wing to the towers of the new center, the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium, which opened in 1989 under the leadership of Dr. John Tart, the college’s first president, will moreover undergo increasingly upgrades such new flooring, house seating, drapery and stage rigging. The auditorium lobby will moreover be remodeled with new paint, flooring, and lighting. In 2017, the College installed a new roof on the TartTowersas well as installed LED stage and house lights in the auditorium. The TartTowerswill be sealed throughout construction. Work is scheduled to uncork in August with plans to unveil the new part-way and auditorium in fall 2019 in time for the college’s 50th anniversary. “We are thrilled and excited to be bringing this wing and much needed renovation to the JCC campus,” said Dr. David Johnson, JCC president. “These new and upgraded facilities will enable us to largest serve our students and our polity as we strive to build a 21st century campus.” HH Architecture designed the new part-way and renovation. Daniels and Daniels Construction Co. is the unstipulated contractor and Stanford White is the mechanical contractor for the project.
